Vacancy: Senior HCI researcher at CUO

As senior researcher at the CUO you conduct and lead research in the domain of usability, human-computer interaction (HCI) and user interface design, write out new national and international projects, teach guest lectures for students and professionals and coach the researchers of the CUO-team.

The Centre for Usability Research (Centrum voor Usability Onderzoek – CUO) is part of the faculty of Social Sciences at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (University of Leuven), Belgium.

The CUO conducts applied research as well as fundamental research in the domain of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), from the user point of view rather than from a technological point of view. It follows a user-centred design philosophy in order to design and evaluate prototypes of ICT products for a variety of platforms and devices such as computers, internet, interactive television, mobile devices and future technologies. The fundamental research focuses on new methods for studying social interaction, emotion, fun, collaboration, e-learning, etc. More information on the CUO can be found at http://www.kuleuven.be/cuo/

We expect:

* A university education or similar, preferably in communication sciences, (cognitive) psychology, ergonomics, product development, interaction design, human-computer interaction or another HCI related discipline
* A PhD in the domain of HCI or more than six years experience in HCI research (at universities or in companies)
* A more than average knowledge/interest in ICT
* Extensive experience in scientific research and writing and presenting scientific articles for international journals and conferences

You are:

* A team player with good people management skills who wants to help CUO reach its objectives
* Able to conduct original research in areas of HCI or Interaction Design
* Able to raise research funds from industry and government sources
* A clear communicator and confident speaker
* Fluent in English
