Working for ReNA

You will be working in the Residential Networked Applications (ReNA) project in the Research & Innovation department. The multi-disciplinary ReNA team defines and implements innovative application concepts for the multimedia family, merging entertainment and communication, for fixed broadband and mobile operators. ReNA’s current research activities address domains like ambient intelligence and tangible interfaces, (multi-camera) video communication, user generated content and virtual worlds.


Job description

Product Concept Innovation

When working for ReNA you…

  • … contribute to the definition of new use cases in the broadband applications area. Scope includes interactive TV applications, multimedia communication solutions, and fixed-mobile extensions for these areas.
  • … follow up and asses societal trends and applies them for application inspiration and evaluation (leisure, spending patterns, innovation adoption, family interactions, …)

Demo design and development

A user centered designer in ReNA…

  • … guides software engineering in the development of user interfaces for ReNA application concepts.
  • … builds information architecture of user interfaces as well as designs actual screens or other output media.
  • … designs navigational paths of new interfaces and defines interaction styles.
  • … develops mock-ups and demonstrations

User Research

  • The user centered designer cooperates in qualitative and quantitative user research activities (co-design sessions, usability assessments, lead user selection and technology introduction methodologies).

Profile

  • Degree in design science (industrial design, product design, graphic design)
  • Degree in HCI (Human Computer Interaction) or equivalent through experience
  • Strong graphic design skills (knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator are a must). Product design skills might be an asset
  • Expertise in Flash development (Actionscript) is welcome
  • 3D modelling skills are an asset
  • Preferably experience in user interaction design for interactive TV and/or multimedia mobile applications
  • Strong affinity with multimedia applications and landscape (interactive television, gaming, internet applications, …)
  • Fluency in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Team player and independent worker

Location: Antwerp
